This is one of the best I have seen in awhile. I love this. We haven't had the opportunity to film a beach wedding yet. I would have thought that they would have done some tidal research before setting this up. Maybe they were having unusual weather that day. Either way this one is an award winner in my book.

Tips For A Nervous Bride - Say, No To Pre-Wedding Nerves

One of our recent brides gave us the inspiration for this blog. She was so nervous and we did everything we could to try and help calm her. Since this wedding I have been gathering tips to help our readers deal with those pre-wedding jitters. Watch this fun video of Juanita and then read our tips below.

1. Drink plenty of water. Keep water with you at all times and drink even if you are not thirsty. Keeping yourself hydrated will help you breathe easier and think clearer.

2. Surround yourself with people who keep you calm and make you laugh. Make sure to restrict the bridal area to only those that make you feel your best.

3. Get ready early to and allow for plenty of time for pictures. If you are rushed it is going to add to your stress.

4. Don't drink too much alcohol. It is ok to have a small glass of champagne or wine but don't over do it.

5. Hire a wedding planner or day of coordinator. The less responsibilities you have on your big day the better.

6. If you are writing your own vows, don't worry about memorizing them. It is perfectly ok to read them during the ceremony. This will remove stress both for you and your groom.

7. Make a list. If there are things you are worried about forgetting on your big day write them down. Lists help to organize your thoughts and usually doesn't seem as overwhelming when yu can look at it on paper and check it off as it is done.

8. DELEGATE!! If you don't have a planner make sure to delegate family, friends and bridal party specific jobs to help your day go smoothly. Find away to let go of the control freak that is inside you.

9. Burn aromatherapy candles in your room and play relaxing music.

10. Find time for yourself. It is perfectly ok to clear out your room and allow yourself some "me" time. Sit with your palms facing upward on your knees and close your eyes. Concentrate on breathing and relaxing.

Kimberly & Zack's Wedding Trailer

We typically choose the music that we use for our highlight reels and wedding trailers. We do have a form that we send out to our couples that will help us get to know their type of music and assist us in selecting. This couple had the Elvis song, "I'm All Shook Up" on their list. I just couldn't resist myself. After having the pleasure to get to know Kimberly and Zack, I really felt that this song was perfect for their wedding teaser. This is the first time that I have edited to "THE KING".

I had so much fun working with Kimberly and Zack. From the moment we first met, I knew that this was going to be a FUN couple. They did not disappoint that is for sure. I hope you stay tuned and keep your eye out for their highlight reel once it is complete. We were able to get some beautiful footage.

The Wedding of Lindsey & Michael Burk

Lindsey and Michael was married on June 25th at Brentwood United Methodist Church. Their reception was held at the Richland Country Club. We enjoyed working with Evin Photography, Weddings by Helen and Dessert Designs. The couple had their rehearsal dinner at Mere Bulles and listed them as one of their favorite vendors. We would like to highly recommend their wedding cake vendor. Lindsey talks about them below. We have done weddings now for several years and currently this cake is voted the best wedding cake we have ever tasted.

Tell us the most memorable moment for you on your big day.

Seeing each other for the first time in the courtyard, dancing with my parents and sister at the end of the night

Can you remember anything funny that happened during the day?

My dad sat down with my mom after lighting the unity candle instead of coming to walk me down the aisle. My mom elbowed him in the ribs as a reminder!

If you could do something different what would you do?

Nothing!

Created by Leland at Dessert Designs. 4 octagonal layers on a round base layer (5 layers total) with each layer a different flavor: flourless chocolate cake, cream cheese pound cake with raspberry filling, caramel cake, and lemon cake. We used elements from our monogram to create the decorations. Flower and pearl topper.

Every one in awhile you find "THAT COUPLE". You know what I am talking about. The couple that you know without a doubt was meant to be together. The couple that looks fabulous on film, and the couple that just makes you smile even though you have been working hard all weekend. Christopher and Solange was just that couple. This was a particularly busy wedding weekend for us. We had three weddings in one weekend.

It was such a blessing to have Solagne and Christopher's day right in the middle of our weekend. Their wedding was beautiful and refreshing for us. We put in a long day, but it seemed to fly by. Caitlin & Bret's Highlight Reel

There are so many details that go into pulling off a wedding. My favorite packages for weddings would be our wedding video and dj package. We love doing wedding photography, but there is something about the video/dj gigs that are always so relaxing and fun. Wedding video work is really more laid back. When we have DJ Rob looking out for us we can spend time creating the perfect shot while he is running the wedding reception and dance floor. He won't ever let us miss a thing.

Since we do so many nashville weddings and the editing process takes awhile, we always send out a questionnaire to our couples asking them about their wedding day. We don't want to miss the details that many of our readers love to digest.

A. When Brett saw me for the first time in my wedding dress.

A. The ring bearer getting half way down the aisle and dropping his pillow. He went back to get his pillow and then sprinted towards his mom, which was one of my bridesmaids, saying "Mommy, Mommy".

Q. If you could do something different what would you do?
A. I would have taken time and relaxed more.

A. 5 tier ivory cake with lace pattern from my wedding dress. She also incorporated gems in the sugar roses to match my bouquet. Three different flavors - Almond White Chocolate Cake, White Chocolate Truffle Cake, Banana Spice Cake

Q. Brides love to read about other brides and their gowns. What style gown did you have, where did your purchase it and do you know the designer name?
A. An ivory sweetheart neckline gown that has gorgeous beading and lace over the entire dress. My gown has a beaded satin belt with crystals and gemstones that highlight the waistline. We purchase my dress at Bridal Warehouse. The designer name is the Private Label by G.

A. Rascal Flatts - God Bless The Broken Road

Hillary & Robert's - Wedding Shoppe Wedding Trailer

We are so excited to share with you our "Wedding Shoppe" wedding. Hillary and Robert were married on July 30th at Cumberland University. The chapel complimented her wedding decor and colors exceptionally well. This wedding is a perfect example of the perfection you can have by using exceptional vendors. The Wedding Shoppe provided five vendors for this event and they each did an amazing job.

The wedding planning was done by Emily Kennedy of Kennedy Occasions. Emily and her assistant worked all morning creating the perfect look for this event. They also provided the beautiful floral arrangements.

Southern Events provided some of the cutest decor we have seen in a long time. A beautiful mixture of timeless and vintage pieces created the perfect ambience for this darling couple.

The wedding photography was done by our wonderful Krista Lee. Krista is just as beautiful as her photos, especially since she is not sporting a cute baby bump. Krista worked so well with Baughman Media Works during the pre-ceremony and ceremony. This is a wonderful recipe for amazing photos and video and a media package that can't be beat.

DJ Rob from BMW DJ services did a stellar job with ceremony music and reception entertainment. From the first dance to the last dance, the guests were all smiles. You can't go wrong at your reception if you have DJ Rob orchestrating the perfect music for your event.

Last but not least we want to share with you the movie trailer provided by Baughman Media Works. The hardest part about this edit was trying to keep it short. There were so many beautiful shots and we had to find a way to create just a teaser under 30 seconds. Make sure to subscribe to their blog to see the highlight reel as soon as it is posted.

Another DJ Gig Gone Bad

Amanda & Ben's Highlight Reel

I love it when we have something out of the ordinary to work with for our wedding video shoots. I am excited to share with you this reel. Amanda and Ben were married at Riverwood Mansion. There were several things that day that set this wedding apart for us. First and foremost were the cicadas. Now, I have to tell you that I DO NOT LIKE the cicadas. They were horrible. They very loud and they stunk up the place. The wedding was outside so I was really worried about being swarmed. Luckily the trees at the mansion are very tall. This made it better on the guests since these annoying pests decided to stay in the trees. Baughman Media Works provided the wedding videography as well as the dj service.

We met with the couple before the wedding and had a wonderful dinner at Ruby Tuesdays. We knew that night that this was going to be a FUN EVENT!

My favorite thing about this wedding was the first dance. A friend of the couple wrote them a song and recorded it. It was so cute and we loved using it in this wedding reel. Finding the perfect song for your wedding film is many times a grueling process. This song was cute and fit the couple perfectly. We hope you enjoy watching this reel as much as we enjoyed producing it.

Tell us the most memorable moment for you on your big day.

Our "first look" at the altar of the church. I am so glad we decided to see each other before the ceremony. It was just us and our photographers and videographer. Being able to spend a little time alone and just take everything in was so special.

Can you remember anything funny that happened during the day?

My Matron of Honor was standing on a vent during the ceremony that was blowing directly up her dress. Tom and I had no idea what was going on, but apparently it gave everyone a good laugh.

Tell us all about your wedding cake. Style, flavor…etc.

We had a dessert bar, so our wedding cake was small and simple and mainly just there so that we could cut it with the saber! It was a plain vanilla cake with buttercream frosting, 2 tiers, with an aqua ribbon wrapped around the base of each tier. There were red roses on top, and rose petals scattered around the base.

Brides love to read about other brides and their gowns. What style gown did you have, where did your purchase it and do you know the designer name?

My gown was a sample dress I found at Brides-on-a-Budget in Lebanon. It was ivory, strapless, with an embroidered bodice. It laced up the back and had a beautiful train. It was everything I wanted in a dress, and so comfortable!

What song did you play for your first dance?

Where did you honeymoon?

You’ve seen her behind the camera. You’ve watched her amazing edits. It’s fun to be on the other side of the camera every now and then. Jaclyn Baughman (my baby girl) is celebrating her senior year and we wanted to share a short video reel from her prom. So, many of our readers have been come friends and family to us and we know you will enjoy seeing Jaclyn in something other than her black video attire.

Jaclyn was escorted to her prom by close friend Charlie Koudelka. The dance was held at the newly renovated Opryland Hotel. Mount Juliet High School has a special tradition for their Seniors where they

invite parents to escore their son/daughter into the prom as they announce their name. Then they have a mother/son and daddy/daughter dance. It was so special to actually get to see what her prom looked like.

Never fear….parents were escorted out as soon as the dances were finished.

Amanda & Ben’s Same Day Edit

We survived the Cicadas. Phew. In spite of the loud, smelly pests Amanda and Ben pulled off a beautiful ceremony and celebration for their guests. I was pretty excited because I was able to check off two items on my list of foods that i have always wanted to taste.

FRIED GREEN TOMATOES. MMMMMmmm they were yummy. I think I ate four of them. They were small. LOL

Strawberry Wine. I loved this too. I was working so I only drank 1/2 a glass but I have a new fav to add to my wine list.

Let me tell you, the crew of BMW is so excited about this couple. We can't wait for their Michigan, December wedding. Well, I have to be honest, I am not looking forward to the bitter cold, but we know this wedding is gonna ROCK. Baughman Media Works will be providing their photography, videography & Dj service. We were able to have an engagement session with them while shooting another wedding last weekend. It was still a bit cold, so we ended up getting into the Henry Ford Museum to do the shoot. It was a little challenging as the lighting wasn't the greatest and we didn't want to look like we were in a museum. However, we had so much fun.

Jeri & Troy's Highlight Reel

Our journey with Jeri and Troy has been so fun. Our first shoot was at the Starbucks where Troy proposed to his future bride. The best part of our job is making new friends. We're actually going to dinner with them on Sunday. I think Jeri was one of the prettiest brides I have ever seen. That is saying a lot. There was just an sweetness about her that is unmatched. A genuine beautiful lady with a genuine heart. We asked the couple a few questions about their wedding day. There answers are below:

A. There are so many that its hard to choose just one. I loved the first time that Troy & I saw each other that day. Saying our own vows to each other and the children was special. My heart melted when our oldest son Brayden fell into me crying after watching our "Love Story" video.

Q. Can you remember anything funny that happened during the day?
A. The bride screwed up the vows. HA!
Troy & I had a blast surprising our family w/ our fun dance.

Q. If you could do something different what would you do?
A. We wish our reception had been about an hour longer.

Q. Tell us all about your wedding cake. Style, flavor…etc.
A. Our cake was elegant. It was all white w/ pearl beading and a red rose topper. Each tier of the cake had chocolate and french vanilla cake -- sooo yummy!

Q. Brides love to read about other brides and their gowns. What style gown did you have, where did your purchase it and do you know the designer name?
A. I found my gown at The White Room in Lebanon. It was simple, elegant, but also sexy. I think that's a tough combination to find. I LOVE my dress and felt like a million bucks wearing it.

Highlight Reel - June & Matt

June and Matt were married at the Parish Presbyterian Church. Their reception was held at the Country Music Hall of Fame and was an amazing event. June's dress was exquisite. She wore a beautiful Maggie Sottero gown. The smile on Matt's face was unforgettable as he watched his bride escorted down the aisle to "You are the One", by Keith Green, sung by Chris McClarney. Her bridesmaids wore black complimenting their red, pewter and silver color scheme.

We are proud to report that June and Matt wouldn't have changed anything about their wedding day. The ceremony was intimate, worshipful and simply amazing. The reception was fun, celebratory, filled with unique touches, and beautiful. They couple shared their first dance as husband and wife to, "Our Love is Here to Stay", by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgereald. Matt's groomsmen lead a special rendition of "Happy Birthday" that was so fun. It was more than they could have dreamed. They would recommend their vendors to anyone.

Claire & Joshua's Highlight Reel

This reel has been done for awhile but we got behind on our blog. We don't want to miss sharing our experience with this adorable couple.

Joshua and Claire were married at The Riverwood Mansion. This is one of our very favorite venues. Claire wore a satin and tulle asymmetrical pick-up gown by Davids Bridal. She was as sweet as they come. They were married in the garden in front of their closest family and friends. Claire graced down the aisle to Les Miserables, A Heart Full of Love. Clover & teal decorated the occasion.

Baughman Media Works provided their video coverage. We had so much fun playing in the leaves. So did Claire and Josh. We asked them about some of their favorite memories and they responded with the following:

Their wedding cake was a round 3 tier provided by The Bake Shoppe. The bottom tier was white chocolate chip & traditional chocolate, middle was traditional vanilla & raspberry, & the top tier was white chocolate chip & Kahlua. It was decorated with branches and small flowers. The top tier had to lovebirds the male was clover Josh's color & "wore" a top hat & bow tie. The other bird was oasis (teal) my color & "wore" a veil. Instead of a topper we had the branches & flowers continue to the top.

The blog has been really quiet. We have been very busy with moving, surgeries and getting ready for the upcoming wedding season. Last night we were priveladged to be a part of one of Nashville's finest weddings. Baughman Media Works provided a 12 hour Same Day Edit video package for Nicole Wilcox & Domenic Vitro. We have adored this couple from the very moment we met them. How blessed are we to meet such amazing people.

Our Same Day Edit package is one of our favorites. I started editing during the ceremony while Rob & Breanna ran the cameras. I finished the edit in record time, just as my salad hit our assigned table. Very few couples give their vendors their own table, but we were seated amongst the guests. I had an amazing Prime Rib seated next to my girl who had the chicken. Rob sat over by Paul Wharton one of our favorite photographers. They laughed and enjoyed dinner service while the Same Day Edit video played on a loop for guests to enjoy just outside the door of the reception.

It was so fun to see their faces. "Hey, we just did that! How did they get that up there so fast", just one of the many comments we heard. We are excited to share our first Same Day Edit Edit of 2011. Contact us and ask how you can have this option added to your video package.

The Dreaded Toast - Fun Ideas for the special speaker

I have seen some amazing toasts through the years, I have also seen some snoozers. We thought it might be fun to share with you some fun toast ideas. I personally like the ones that make the crowd laugh. That is always the toasts that I remember. We are not going to give you all our ideas at once. We have hundreds of disks and just no time to go through them all and find our favorites. So, I started looking online.

I actually think this toast just might be a DO NOT!! You would have to know the bride really well to do something like this. However, it is pretty funny.

Interviewing a DJ

As you sit in front of your computer, google asks you what do you want to find?

You type in something like, Nashville DJ. Google returns 7580 websites for you to

peruse. Obviously, you click on number three in the list. Because, you know numbers

one and two probably paid to be at the top and nobody wants the highest priced

person in the list. Also, nobody wants the one on the 4th page either. So you start

somewhere in the middle.

Every one of the DJ's claim to be the best and offer amazing services. They post all of their glowing reviews, never posting the negatives. Making a great first impression and always the consummate professional. How does one know which DJ works best for them? They set a meeting and interview the DJ.

A Dj interview is two ways.

At least it should be two ways. The DJ should want to work with people that they match with as well as the customer wanting to find that perfect MC for their event. Questions should be raised like; music styles, number of guests, required attire, and so on. Other questions should also be addressed like; What do you imagine this event looking like, feeling like, or what do you want your guests to go away saying when it's over? These emotional based questions are important as, most of the usefulness of music is emotional. Music is used to set a mood or change a mood. As an MC it is our job to be cordial and professional in the mic, direct each event that is to take place, and move the crowd to enjoy themselves.

A master of ceremony can make a night great or end it early.

If the MC comes across as bossy, angry, belligerent, or rude the guests will feel it. It they are too pushy it will cause the crowd to leave to get away from the aggressive DJ. It takes a stylish finesse to work a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds to enjoy an event together. Care should be taken to not offend but, also be loose enough for everyone to enjoy themselves. As a consumer you must read your DJ and know that he has a gift to "get along" with everyone he meets. The meeting should be professional but, also open and honest about personality and style. If one is present but, not the other you will experience problems at your event. Either it will be all business or so loose that nothing happens when it should.

In your interview remember to ask every question no matter how silly, take a few moments to get to know your prospective DJ and let him get to know you, and offer any info you have that may help with the mood or flow of your event. You may be very nervous as you interview several. I would say, when you find the DJ for you it will FEEL right. You will leave the meeting with a feeling of trust and friendship. If you don't then you may want to keep shopping. Have fun interviewing and don't forget to set an appointment with me to see if we are possibly that match.

Studying as a DJ

As a DJ/MC I started by watching others!

I learned from some of the best in the field and the worst. I watched at weddings as the DJ played music and sat in a chair behind the booth. It seemed as if they were just filling their time, waiting for the party to end. Then, I would watch as the DJ would interact with guests, selecting one or more to use as examples and keep the party going. The DJ would dance and encourage others to dance and celebrate with the newlyweds.

Some Dj's love what they do. I love every opportunity I have to MC a reception.

I strive to keep a party moving from start to finish. Showing everyone the time of their lives.

If I were to give out one trade tip to the DJ's that do not know what to do at events, watch your

peers. Look on youtube, become friends with other DJ's, help them on their events for free to

learn, in other words, STUDY. Never get to a place where you think you cannot learn new and

interesting things. I learn every time I watch someone else work.

My hope is to always leave the guests wanting more but, leaving them breathless as they leave.

I want them to go home completely exhausted from partying and say I want to do that again.

This is my goal at every event. Playing appropriate music is part of the job but, becoming one

of the participants and helping the guests feel comfortable is the most important part of an MC's

role. This may mean teaching a line dance or two, using props, hats, or wigs to loosen people

up, or just using some tricks to get them on the dance floor and keeping them once you get

them there.

Some DJ's make the mistake of seeing couples dance during a slow love song and think that

is the way to go. Since they have 6 couples on the floor slow songs are working. I use only a

select few love songs for those couples. I find that people have more fun with mid tempo and

faster songs that keep them moving. This gives everyone an opportunity to interact and show

off some moves. It is also easier to dance if you have a crowd around you. It releases

inhibitions. Study some of the songs that the majority of people like and which rhythms.

I usually start a dance set with oldies. I go as far back as the 40s. then I work my way through

the decades of some of the best dance hits. Eventually getting to the present day greats. I then

watch the crowd and find the niche that the most people were dancing to and play more of the

decade and genre. Surprisingly, disco wins 90% of the time. It is fun, everyone knows it, and

it doesn't require serious dance moves. Even grandpa likes to get up and try out his Travolta

stylings. Study hard and keep your eyes on the crowd. Always strive to be the best DJ/MC

that you can be.

Vantage Videography - Video Wedding Planner - Part II

In our last post we covered the first four steps to making sure you were correctly planning your wedding video shoot. We covered the following topics:

We will now discuss our final four. All of these elements combined will help you be more prepared and give you the best platform for a successful film & happy clients.

5. Visibility

Make sure you are set up to see the bride come down the aisle. You cannot afford to forget that the guests will rise and stand as she comes down the aisle. This seems like an obvious point, but I have seen may videographers and photographers forget this during their setup. If you do not prepare for this you may not have ample time to get the footage needed. This is one of the most important shots of the evening, DON'T BLOW IT. You need to make sure you are constantly aware of what is going on during the ceremony. A program or schedule from the wedding planner is very helpful. Always, be thinking about what is coming up next. You don't want to miss the unity candle, rings, or most important....THE KISS.

6. Make The Photographer Your Friend

The last thing the bride and groom need are a photographer and a videographer fighting over shot angles. The majority of the time a simple friendly conversation before the event will disarm this situation. However, I have had situations where the photographer just refused to cooperate. Be very careful not to escalate the situation by letting your personal feelings and temper get in the way. Always maintain a professional attitude. One excellent way to avoid this happening is to ask your bride in advance who their photographer is. Drop them an email or a phone call and invite them to lunch. Bring samples of your work so they can see you are a professional and good at what you do. This makes the wedding day lots of fun when you show up and you are already friends.

This is NOT the correct way to resolve a problem. ROFL

7. Make It Personal

You may have shot 1000 weddings, but to every individual bride and groom, their wedding is going to be an unique event to them. Every aspect of your editing should reflect who they are as a couple. Do your homework. From the titles, to the music don't get in the rut of creating cookie-cutter films. Don't use country music if the bride and groom love rap. Always challenge yourself to make your next video your best.

8. Get B-Roll Footage

Make sure to get enough B-roll footage. It is very important to capture all the details of the event. Some suggestions are:

Pew Bows
Outside Church or Venue (DON"T FORGET THIS)
Unity Candle
Rings
Guest Book
Flowers & Decor
Cake(s)
Monogrammed Items
Brides Shoes & Accessories
Transportation (Limo, Trolleys etc)
Musicians
Table Settings
Food

Most importantly, have fun. A videographer who enjoys their job is much better at what they do.
